For its fire safety service, the City of Laval is looking for: Agent - Smoke Alarm Brigade
STATUS: Temporary
JOB POSTING NO: 3051
POSTING PERIOD: From March 2 to March 29, 2026
SALARY: $20.72/h
SCHEDULE: Day, evening, and weekend shifts as needed
Is committed to ensuring the safety of citizens by reducing fire risks. As part of our prevention mission, we have established a brigade dedicated to smoke alarms in the Laval area to educate, raise awareness, and promote the importance of smoke alarms among citizens.
As a Smoke Alarm Brigade Agent, you will be on the front lines to ensure public safety by:
- Conducting home visits to check the presence and functionality of smoke alarms.
- Raising residents' awareness of good fire prevention practices and resilience to civil safety hazards.
- Reminding occupants that smoke alarms are not optional, but mandatory under the Laval Fire Safety Service Regulation.
- Working in collaboration with firefighters and fire service inspectors.
- Writing reports and following up on interventions performed.
- Who are students in a DEP in security intervention, a DEC in fire safety, or an AEC in fire prevention
- Who hold a valid driver's license (class 5)
- Who are available during the summer period until classes resume
- Having an excellent sense of citizen service and communication.
- Comfortable with fieldwork and interactions with the public.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Aware of fire prevention issues.
